Raimundo e a Menor Banda do Mundo (Raimundo and the Smallest Band in the World)
Raimundo lives alone in his “island”. There he receives the visit of his friends birds and leans with them their singing. He also plays with the echo, invents jalopies, goes out to the world, and hears the sounds and histories of the places where he passes. He meets Joanete, a devoted musician, friends of great masters and forró presenter. Together they discover the world from music and music from around the world. In a sound course, Raimundo and Joanete cross a bridge between the popular and the erudite, the formal and the casual, in a dynamic and entertaining show.
Cia Ópera na Mala bases this presentation in the homonymous book “Raimundo e a Menor Banda do Mundo” (nominated to the Jabuti Award – best children's book) and also adapts histories from the show “Baú de Histórias” (Ratimbum TV/ Cultura TV), conceived and produced by the Cia.
Using the company's typical language: puppet theater, shadow theater, live music, history telling and a lot of amusement, the show brings many musical references (Chiquinha Gonzaga, Vivaldi, Ernesto Nazareth and Scott Joplin), and also great characters of the history of music, such as Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Luiz Gonzaga. Instructive without being didactic, the show aims at awakening, by means of leisure and fable, the musical senses as a path in search of beauty and harmony.
“Raimundo e a menor banda do mundo” has received the “Prêmio Femsa de Teatro Infantil 2007” for best sound track.
Couple Cris Miguel and Sergio Serrano are the responsible for the creation, text, music track, set design, puppets and costume design of the show.
